How it started
Erase BG began as a small idea: removing a background should take one upload, not an afternoon in a photo editor. It was built by Tej Magar and Rahul Bista, with help from a friend in the X community.
People used it for product photos, profile pictures and school projects, so we kept going. The 3D GIF scenes came next, then the small tools people kept asking for: a cropper, a resizer, a circle cropper and a format converter.
Today Erase BG is run by Monova Tech.
How it is paid for
Everything here is free to use, with no account needed. Free cut-outs download at up to 800 px with no watermark. Free GIFs are 480 × 360 px with a small erasebg.org mark in the corner.
Pro is an optional subscription. It gives you full-resolution cut-outs, HD GIFs with no watermark, a video copy of any GIF and a share link for your results. Pro is what keeps the site running, so there are no ads.
What we care about
Plain tools. One upload, one clear button, a result you can use straight away.
Being straight with you. We say what is free and what is Pro before you start, not after.
Your photos stay yours. Photos sent for a cut-out or a GIF are used only to make your result. The cropper, resizer, circle cropper and converter never upload your photo at all.
